Communications

Let’s face it: science is complicated. After all, the goal of science is understanding the unknown. But if everyone could not understand the work scientists do, there would be no point to any of it. Research is supposed to help the community, whether it be by providing new technology or informing policy decisions. That’s why communications is important. It takes the crazy jargon and equations out of the work, leaving the key points of our experiements, and then distributes them far and wide (especially now that we have social media).

It also allows us to have some really cool photos of us in lab coats.
