About Me!
Ruth Deja is a rising senior at Shorecrest High School in Shoreline. During her free time she likes to volunteer at her neighborhood food bank, crochet, knit and bake. Ruth came to America as a young immigrant. Ruth took solace in the sciences where she developed a specific love for biology. Moving forward Ruth submerged herself in her studies. Participating in numerous science classes and projects her passion blossomed. Her studies inspired her to someday pursue a career in biomedical engineering and medicine as an MD.
Ruth attended a Black Young and Gifted conference at the University of Washington. At the conference Ruth learned about global health. Ruth’s passion for her community and those struggling in it has led her to fall in love with global health. She plans to work in global health helping those in need throughout the world. During this internship Ruth had the opportunity to interview someone who is currently working in global health. This opportunity cemented her passion and determination to explore this field.
