About me!
Ilinca Hamza is a senior at Eastlake High School in Sammamish, WA. Her interest in STEM fields originated from her childhood curiosity of the world around her and the variety of STEM classes she has taken. Ilinca is passionate about environmental sciences and mathematics, with hopes to someday pursue a career where she has the opportunity to incorporate both.
Ilinca developed her interest in STEM into a passion for environmental sciences and mathematics through her extracurricular activities. As the president of Girls Rock in Science and Math, a non-profit educational organization dedicated to helping more young girls become passionate about STEM topics, Ilinca strives to decrease the gender disparity in STEM while providing young girls an environment to explore their interests. Additionally, Ilinca helps to promote action to stop climate change through her position as co-president of the local non-profit organization, Planet Youth Project. Furthermore, Ilinca is the president of her high school’s Marine Science Club and vice-president of her high school’s Astronomy Club.
In her free time, Ilinca likes to read and play volleyball. With her favorite literature genre being magical realism and some of her favorite authors are Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Haruki Murakami, and Louisa May Alcott. She also loves to play volleyball and was a setter for Eastlake High School and Northwest Juniors Volleyball Club, where she was captain of the U17 Under Armour Blue Team.
